Thematic Saturday - Making a hanger from domes or gutters
This is for all your hanger lovers. We make threedimensional hanger from domes or gutters by heating, hammering and soldering the metal.
This workshop is for beginners who want quick results, without passing by the base techniques like sawing and filing. But it is also for students who already followed the ‘Basic techniques + soldering’ workshop and want to learn how to solder more complex forms.
We work with 2 fixed models: one to learn the basics for absolute beginners who don’t know how to solder yet, one for students who already know some basics of soldering, to move up a level. There is therefore no freedom of choice of designs, as in the other workshops. You learn different techniques directly on the chosen model.

What will you learn during this day?
You will learn the basics of heating and bending metal plate in the shape of a dome or tube.
You will learn the basics of soldering (beginners) or some more advanced soldering by soldering domes together (if you already followed a workshop on soldering).
Finally, you will finish your jewellery.
You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the base techniques of jewellery design. But if you do have some, this workshop is still useful: you will better master the use of different pliers and do some soldering that you have never done before.
We will work with copper and brass. These are relatively inexpensive metals, but they can still be perfectly finished into a wearable piece of jewellery. As we work with a few fixed models, you cannot choose your own design as for the other workshops. But you can still choose in which metal you want to make it and the type of wire (round, square,…).
You will go home with min. 1 hanger.

Registration fee: 150€ (130€ course fee + 20€ cost of materials)
Included in the course fee :
the use of the necessary tools
non-precious metals (brass and copper wires)
Optional: silver (can be bought on site if you want to work with it)
To take with you:
sketchbook/notebook
writing materials
comfortable clothes that can be dusty; you may want to bring a cotton or leather apron (no plastic because of the risk of fire)
an elastic band to tie your long hair together (safety)
food and drink (or to buy on site or in the neighbourhood)
mouth mask (depending on the sanitary obligations)
